Law Firm Newsletters and Email Lists
Monthly email written, designed, sent and reported on, aimed at past clients and referral partners.
Your email list is the only marketing asset you own outright. Search rankings can move, ad costs can rise, a social platform can change its algorithm overnight, but a list of past clients and referral partners who know your name keeps producing as long as you keep showing up in the inbox.
For most firms it is also the most neglected asset in the building. The list exists somewhere in the case management system and nothing has been sent to it in years.
What we do with the list you already have
We start by pulling your list out of your case management system, cleaning it, removing invalid addresses that would damage your sending reputation, and segmenting it into groups that deserve different messages: past clients, current clients, referral partners, prospects who never signed, and newsletter subscribers.
A reactivation sequence goes to the past client segment first, because that is where the fastest return sits. People who already trusted you once are far likelier to hire you again or refer somebody than a cold prospect who has never heard of your firm.
- List extraction, cleaning and deliverability setup with SPF, DKIM and DMARC
- Segmentation by relationship, practice area and city
- Reactivation sequence to dormant past clients
- Referral partner track written for professionals, not consumers
The monthly newsletter
Every month we write, design and send a newsletter under your firm's name. It leads with something genuinely useful, a legal change that affects your readers, a question that keeps coming up in consultations, a short client story where confidentiality allows, and it closes with one clear action.
It is not a link roundup and it is not the same generic legal content ten thousand other firms send. Content is drawn from your actual practice and the video we film with you, so it sounds like your firm.
Referral partners deserve their own email
Realtors, financial advisors, funeral directors, medical providers and other attorneys are not consumers and should not get the consumer newsletter. They want to know what kinds of matters you take, how quickly you respond, and what happens to the person they send you.
We run a separate track to that segment, usually shorter and more frequent, with content that makes referring easy and low risk.
Compliance and unsubscribes
Every send meets CAN-SPAM and CASL requirements with your physical address, an obvious unsubscribe, and honest subject lines. Attorney advertising disclaimers appear where your jurisdiction requires them. We monitor complaint rates and remove unengaged addresses, because a clean list that opens is worth more than a large list that lands in spam.
Frequently asked questions
- How often should a law firm send a newsletter?
- Monthly for a consumer facing list, every two to three weeks for a referral partner list. Less than monthly and readers forget you between sends; more than weekly and unsubscribes climb without a matching return.
- What if our list is old or messy?
- That is the normal starting point. We clean it, warm the sending domain gradually so the first campaign does not land in spam, and run a permission style reengagement message to the oldest segment before the regular program begins.
- Can we email past clients about a different practice area?
- Usually yes, and it is often the highest value message you can send. Somebody you handled a closing for may need estate planning. Segmentation and honest framing keep it useful rather than intrusive.
- Which email platform do you use?
- We work in whatever platform your firm already pays for, or we set one up. The list and the platform account stay in your firm's name.
